Director of Housekeeping and Laundry

General Statement of Duties and Physical Requirements:

The Director of Housekeeping/Laundry is responsible for planning, directing staff, coordinating and carrying out a system for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in all resident living spaces and public areas of the facility.  This individual is also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the laundry. This position holds the overall responsibility for meeting all local, state, federal requirements for the housekeeping and laundry services.

 

The Director of Housekeeping/Laundry needs to be able to fill in for any position in the department.  As such they need to be capable of: bending, lifting overhead, stooping, pushing and pulling, repetitive motion of arms shoulders and hands, standing or walking for as much as eight hours at a time.  Lifting requirements would be for items weighing up to 50 pounds, and at times must assist in moving furniture.  May be exposed to cleaning and laundry chemicals.  Work is primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.

 

Successful candidate must:

  • Exhibit patience, grace, and thoughtful communications with staff under their supervision, other managers, and residents.
  • Make decisions based on research, intuition, and input from affected teams.
  • Continuously think of “bigger picture” consequences and results.
  • Continuously seek process improvement, and maintain an open style of management that encourages the sharing of ideas and cross-training.
  • Possess intermediate computer skills and a comfort level with Microsoft Office, Outlook (email), online systems for payroll and ordering, etc.
  • Understand the mission and values of Timbercrest and live them daily to the extent possible.
  • Be willing to do any task required of the department alongside staff, as well as management duties.

 

Requirements:

Candidates will be evaluated based on the entire package of background and experience.

Experience in a similar role is preferred.
